Kitagawa Utamaro (c. 1753 - October 31, 1806) was a Japanese painter, specialist in ukiyo-e.

He is particularly known for his depictions of pretty women (bijin-ga), but his work also includes many nature and animal scenes, as well as erotic albums (shunga).
